Essendon Bell Ringers
Essendon has a small, friendly band of ringers. Our ages and abilities as ringers vary quite a bit. We generally ring all eight bells, usually to call changes, for the Sunday services and weddings, and we ring the old year out and the new year in on New Year's Eve.
After practice, there is always a social visit to the pub. Each year we go on an outing to ring at about six towers in another part of the country, with a dinner together in the evening, and we also have an Annual Dinner during the winter months and a summer barbecue each year.
We practice on Tuesday nights from 8.00 to 9.30. As we do not have many expert ringers this consists of call changes and simple methods, unless there are visitors, in which case we can ring up to Cambridge Major. If you would like to join us as a ringer, whatever your ability, or would just like to find out more about ringing, please do pay us a visit. You will be very welcome.
